My thanks to the Crufts Show committee for the invitation to judge this delightful variety of Dachshunds. I was pleased with the excellent entry in both numbers and quality, and thank exhibitors for giving me the privilege  and pleasure of assessing their lovely hounds. I sensed a good atmosphere around the ring and thank my able stewards for keeping it running smoothly. I enjoyed my day and was delighted with my main winners. I thought my B.O.B Ch Silvae Solo put on a great performance in the Group Ring and the action shots of her movement were superb. I was delighted to see her take Group 3. The entry today was rather mixed in type, I thought that the majority of exhibits met the breed standard requirement of 1:2 height/length ratio and had sufficient ground clearance. Front construction has improved since I last judged, but the length of ribbing on some was shorter than expected and needs to be improved, that said the breed seems to be in "good heart", with some promising youngsters, a good sign for the future. As usual temperaments were wonderful and most coat were of good texture. My placings were as I saw them on the day. I was looking for a well constructed hound who could move freely showing reach and drive and carrying themselves well. Some classes were very competitive, which meant that some hounds that I liked went home without a card. DCC Phillips Ch Wiretap Here I Am (IMP CAN) RDCC  Marston-Pollock Cloudside Oliver.  BCC Mccalmont Ch Silvae Solo.  RBCC Phillips Ch Tendrow A Page In Time. BOB  & Group3 Mccalmont Ch Silvae Solo. BP Adams Wyldetarn Shoot From The Hip.

VD (4,1)  Lovely class, all a credit to their owners. 1 Moore & Coverley CH/IR CH Ex Sentia I'm Bond James Bond. Hard to believe this lad is rising 10 yrs, smart brindle who presents an excellent outline, most handsome head with pleasing expression, reachy neck into well laid back shoulders, good forechest, well ribbed back, well made rear, moved out soundly with verve and drive, carries himself so well, coat has good texture. 2 Patton  Ch/Ir Ch Lesandnic Sea The Stars. Have awarded this smart boy the ResCC as a youngster and still like him, now rising 8yrs and super hard condition, masculine head and dark eye, lovely front assembly and well sprung lengthy ribbing and strong quarters, moved out freely, in good jacket, just preferred the rear action and performance of 1 on the day. 3 Carter Romanchi Alkansea. Dark brindle rising 9yrs of a pleasing type and good overall shape, loved his head and expression, balanced angulation with well filled forechest and good ribbing, moved out well and although a little wide coming on, he strides out with an easy action in profile.

PD (6) 3 Promising boys. 1  Adams  Wyldetarn Shoot From The Hip. Best Puppy. Super brindle youngster 12 mths on the day and extremely smart, liked his masculine head, dark eye and expression. Lovely for size and type, very much all together in his build, presenting a well balanced outline. Has a good front assembly, ribs that are carried well back, a short loin and well angulated rear, which he used to good effect on the move, really striding out with freedom and drive. Loved his head carriage and deportment, most promising and must have a bright future. 2 Wharton Greyhayne Hooray Henry.  Smart dark brindle of 11mths of lovely size and type, pleasing houndy head, neat front with close fitting elbows, good depth and length to ribbing, firm in topline, stands on good bone and neat feet, moved out soundly with good extension, just needing to strengthen  in rear movement, at present not as forward in development as 1, just needing time. In lovely coat and condition. 3 Warren Waggington Manhatten Of Wagsford.  A lot to like about this more compact brindle, loved his head, dark eye and furnishings, he is well put together and neat all through, enough forechest, good shoulders and ribbing, could benefit from a tad more length in upperarm, has good bone and neat feet, moved with drive, good texture to his jacket.

At present is still immature and needing to firm up all round, moved soundly away and back with a good stride in profile, one for the future. 2 Gibson Allfreys London Look. Light Red of 16 mths by same sire as 1 but of completely different type being slightly taller on the leg and narrower all through, has a most handsome head, dark eye and pleasing expression, good neck, balanced angulation fore and aft, neat feet, coat of good texture, moved out freely, preferred the front movement of 1 today.

He is well constructed throughout with well filled forechest, good shoulders and enough upperarm, ribbing is deep and goes well back, has a lovely masculine head, reachy neck, stands on good bone and neat feet, carries himself well on the move with good headcarriage. 2 Vig  Q-Rrens-Dax Enzo-Topazo. Brindle of 2yrs with lovely masculine head, lengthy neck into firm topline, good layback of shoulder and deep ribbing, well angulated rear, not quite relaxed today at the stack but strode out well on the move.

He is very masculine in outlook and well balanced all through, has a well proportioned head, dark eye and pleasing expression, good neck and firm topline. He is well put together with well filled front, neat elbows, long well sprung ribbing, short loin and strong well made rear, lovely chunky bone and neat feet. Another lovely dark brindle of differing type who has a lot to like. This quality 2yr boy has a super "clean cut" outline, is very well balanced for and aft, with prominent prosternum, well filled front, good shoulders and long ribbing together with well angulated quarters, liked his houndy head and reachy neck, moved out freely keeping a firm topline. Not quite as tidy coming on as 1 however has excellent rear drive, was shown in lovely coat and condition. 3 Gibson Allfreys Here's Lookin At You. Smart 20 mth dark brindle with an excellent coat, pleases in head and expression, of lovely size and type, good conformation all through with good front and upperarm, well angulated rear. OD (11,1) Such a quality class. 1 Phillips Ch Wiretap Here I Am (Imp Can) CC. Super quality red of 4yrs who gained the CC when I judged him as a youngster in 2015, has now matured to reach his full potential. Lovely for type, beautifully put together and a pleasure to go over. Loved his houndy masculine head, good body proportions and super outline. His forehand construction is textbook, with well filled oval front, well laid back shoulders and good length of upperarm, well developed ribbing carried well back, good in top and underline, strong well developed rear, he moved out soundly and effortlessly with excellent reach and drive. Carries himself so well with good head carriage, he is in firm hard condition and has an excellent harsh jacket, a real showman with attitude, pleased to award him the CC. 2 Patton IR CH Lesandnic Lil Eetee. His movement was sound away and back, he moved with freedom and drive in profile, excellent harsh texture to his jacket. Perhaps not quite the scope or showmanship of 1, however liked him alot and considered in the challenge. 3  Wharton & Pughe Ch Derochaise Black Tarquin. This elegant dark brindle was BP last time I judged and pleased to see that he has matured into such a smart hound, has a handsome head, dark eye and excellent furnishings, is well balanced thoughout with good front assembly, deep ribbing carried well back, sadly his front feet are now a tad flat, that said his is in lovely coat and condition and moved out freely keeping a firm topline with good driving action from his well made rear.
