I had an interesting day judging the wires at Stafford thank you for my lovely entry. I felt that the quality in bitches was far deeper than that of the dogs especially in the lower classes. Many of the exhibits lacked length of ribbing which meant they were long in the loin. Shoulders were on the whole very forward and steep and the upper arms very short which does restrict front movement. Many looked good posed but lost outline on the move with poor hind movement and lack of drive very prevalent. I make no apology for keeping them moving as you really see the true picture. Some also seemed to have an unattractively high tailset and carriage. Overall I found few with correct tight feet with arched toes. Coats and presentation were on the whole good although some could have benefitted from having their teeth cleaned! That said I was very happy with my lineup in both dogs and bitches and pleased with the way exhibitors sportingly took my decisions.
