Thank you to the Club for inviting me to judge and to the exhibitors for a lovely entry. On the whole the breed looks to be in a strong position with lots of lovely youngsters coming through. Competition is strong and in some classes it was like picking hairs but thought both the line ups were lovely. Was lovely to hear a lot of support from the ringside too.
Veteran D/B (3 entered, 1 absent)
1st Clayton-Smith’s Boloria’s April Fool At Cairparavel. Good head and reach of neck. Good lay of shoulder but would prefer more length of upper arm, although moved with correct width in front. Good depth and length of ribbing. Well angulated rear quarters which she used well on the move. Carrying a little too much weight which affected her topline but in good condition.
2nd Eldred’s Bramalodge Amiety At Derdledash. Very similar front assembly to 1 but a little weaker in the rear angulation. Kept a good outline and in good condition.
Minor Puppy Dog (3, 0)
1st Best’s Stanegate Set Em Up Joe For Bestina. Very nice to go over but needs more work on the handling. Lovely head and reach of neck. Good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Rear quarters balanced to forequarters with good length of bone and angulation. Good length and depth of ribbing. Moved with reach and drive with exuberance. RCC. Let himself down in best puppy by not co-operating with his handler.
2nd Elderd’s Derdledash Naughty Neptune. Loved this boys outline on the stack but he did not like the floor on the day! Finer type to 1 but similarly well balanced dog with good fore and rear quarter angulation. Would prefer a little more depth through the forechest.
3rd Laye’s Lowcaster The Dude
Puppy Dog (3,1)
1st Adams’ Sonham Paddington. Good head and reach of neck. Lovely topline and underline. Would prefer a better lay of shoulder, were slightly forward placed but has good return of upper arm. Loved his rear construction which he used to his advantage on the move.
2nd Wharton’s Ernest Hemingway V H Ruwielse Land To Greyhayne (Imp Nld). Good front construction with good depth and length of ribbing. Good topline. Would prefer more length of second thigh. Not the balance of 1.
Junior Dog (3,2)
1st Maher’s Mhargleton Sir Ginger Snaps. Nice head and reach of neck. Good shoulder assembly with adequate depth of chest. Unbalanced rear which lacked in length of second thigh, had more length to first thigh and pastern which lifted his rear on the move and stack.
Yearling Dog (3,1)
1st Hutchings & Price’s Collidach Percy Cute At Samlane. Nice head and reach of neck. Good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Good topline and depth of ribbing. Well angulated rear to balanced him/ Moved with reach and drive. Would just prefer a little less length of body.
2nd Maher’s Mhargleton Sir Ginger Snaps.
Post Graduate Dog (3,0)
1st Hunt’s Weinacht Larch At Drakkina JW. Nice head and reach of neck. Adequate angulation in both fore and rear quarters but balanced. Good depth of chest. Moved with more reach and drive than his competitors on the day.
2nd Ord & Ainsley’s Cloudside Sebastian Of Marnadee. Preferred the overall length of this boy, kept his topline better than 1. However, wasn’t balanced in fore and rear quarters, would prefer more length to second thigh and more drive from his rear on the move.
3rd Horne’s Salixian Moroccan mint
Limit Dog ((3,1)
1st Matthews’ Stanegate Billy The Kid At Sonham JW. Good head and reach of neck. Well placed shoulders with good angulation and return of upper arm. Well balanced with good rear angulation. Moved with purpose. A little lighter in bone than I prefer.
2nd Pughe & Fraser’s Bystock Big Bucks. Nice head, good length and depth of ribbing. Would prefer more length of upper arm and better angulation in fore and rear quarters.
Open Dog (5,1)
1st Carruthers’ Aikton Alexander At Stanegate. Very neat, balanced dog and flawless on the move. Lovely head and reach of neck. Lovely lay of shoulder with correct angulation and length of upper arm. Good topline and underline leading to well angulated rear quarters which he used perfectly on the move. True both fore and aft. Stood out to me for the CC, his crown I believe.
2nd Adams’ Ch Tecklegarth Gatling JW. Lovely head and neck leading to good firm topline. Good fore quarter assembly, nice depth of chest. Would prefer a touch more length in second thigh to balance him.
3rd Norman’s Silvae Trade Name
Champion Dog (4,1)
1st Norman’s Ch Silvae Klansman. Neat dog who won this class on his movement. Good head and reach of neck. Good lay of shoulder and length and depth of ribbing. Would prefer a little more length of upper arm and second thigh but balanced and kept a good outline at all times.
2nd Moore & Downe’s Ch Megline Aramis. Good head and reach of neck. Good topline and underline. Well angulated in fore and rear quarters but didn’t drive from the rear as well as I would have liked.
3rd Adams’ Ch Wyldetarn Shoot From The Hip JW
Minor Puppy Bitch (2,0)
1st Eldred’s Derdledash Shining Star. Nice neat young girl who kept a good outline at all times. Good head, good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Good length of ribbing. Nicely angulated in the rear quarters. Moved well.
2nd Wilson’s Stanegate Katie Brown At Willowash. Liked the front assembly on this girl. Good head and reach of neck. Good length and depth of ribbing. Not as well angulated in the rear and a touch higher in rear.
Puppy Bitch (2,0)
1st Matthews’ Sonham Saucy Saffron. Lovely well-proportioned bitch. Good head and reach of neck. Good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Good length and depth of ribbing. Good firm topline. Lovely rear angulation. Moved with reach and drive. BPIB.
2nd Wharton’s Virginia Woolf V H Ruwielse Land To Greyhayne (Imp Nld). Good head, nice depth of chest. Kept a good outline on the stack and move. Would prefer more length of upper arm and second thigh but a balanced bitch.
Junior Bitch (4,1)
1st Binks’ Tannahill Paris. Neat, balanced bitch who looked good on the stack. Well angulated in fore and rear quarters, moved with purpose but unfortunately lost her topline on the move.
2nd Pughe & Fraser’s Bystock Tina Turner. Bigger type of bitch but for me wasn’t carrying enough weight on the day. Well angulated both fore and rear, good on the move but similarly to 1, topline let her down on the move.
3rd Dickinson’s Derdledash Dakota At Dakotadax
Yearling Bitch (3,1)
1st Hutchings’ Collidach Brook Ling. Lovely looking girl who moved with purpose. Well angulated in both fore and rear quarters which she used well on the move. Lovely body with great ribbing. Would just prefer a better lay of shoulder.
2nd Hunt’s Boloria’s Tetley’s Tea Cake At Drakkina. Good head and reach of neck flowing into a good firm topline. Good length and depth of ribbing. Not the rear angulation of 1 but a lot to like.
Post Graduate Bitch (6,1)
1st Matthews’Wyeknot Come Fly With Me Over Sonham. Good head and reach of neck. Well bodied and good outline. Lovely rear quarters which she used well on the move. Would prefer a touch more length of upper arm to balance her.
2nd Clayton-Smith’s Cairparavel Lilac Wine. Nice overall shape which she kept on the move and stack. Nice fore quarters which balanced with the rear. Just not the drive of 1 on the move.
3rd Carter’s Wyreview Robyn
Limit Bitch (2,2)
Open Bitch (5,1)
1st Moore & Downes’ Megline Bohemian Rhapsody (Imp Rom). Girl who caught my eye from walking in. Lovely head and reach of neck. Beautiful lay of shoulder with correct angulation and good length of upper arm. Well bodied with good ribbing. Lovely balanced rear. Kept a beautiful outline at all times and didn’t put a foot wrong.CC. Close decision for BOB but she was a little more extrovert on the move winning herself that spot.
2nd Clayton-Smith’s Cairparavel Kiss From A Rose JW. Another very nice girl. Good head and neck flowing into correct topline. Good ribbing with correct depth of body. Well angulated and balanced fore and rear quarters with good movement. RCC
3rd Binks’ Tannahill Day Dreamer.
Champion Bitch (2,2)
