Thanks to Midland Counties for the opportunity to judge wires and to my very efficient steward who kept everything running like clockwork for me. Also thanks to the exhibitors for such a lovely entry.
I haven’t judged this variety in a while and having read recent critiques I approached with some trepidation. I found that although mouths were in general quite tight the incorrect bites were less than I had anticipated and I regarded it as a fault along with any other. Although hind movement continues to be an issue with many lacking the correct parallel driving hind action I was concerned to find that correct shoulder and upper arm placement was a real issue. Many had shoulders that were very steep and high in the neck with very little upper arm and certainly not the angles as described in the standard. The result is stilted wide front action which is not attractive. Presentation was on the whole good although some had single coats and I’m sure clippers were in play on occasion. That said I was pleased with my overall winners. I have a template in my head that I always judge to so inevitably I end up looking for the same type in each class.
MPD (4,0) 1 Howes Bramalodge Baby Burns Dark brindle dog with nice overall balance who held his outline at all times. 2. Adams Serengarth Bear with Me. Red dog puppy that I also liked a lot. Today just felt the winner had the edge on maturity and finish.3. McCalmonts Covellyns’s Cecil at Silvae.
P.D. (3,1) 1.Rowes Boloria Goodnight Mr. Tom. Good overall type with correct pro sternum and more upper arm than many which in turn gave him better front movement. Just needs to strengthen in rear to complete picture. 2. Beagries Feldhund Moonlight. Longer type with good topline and attractive head. Lacked upper arm which did affect front movement.
J.D. (3,1) 1.Coverleys Aventine the Poacher.. Sound dog with good overall balance with nice tidy front which means he moves out well. He was feeling the cold today which meant he was a bit tense.2. Prior Coopers Braithwell Brambling. Exuberent dog enjoying his day. Good topline but rather steep in shoulder which showed in front movement.
P.G.D. (3,0) Farringtons Dollydash Defender of Faith. Dark brindle with an excellent coat. Strong head flowing into excellent neck and well held topline. Best front. in the class. 2.Matthews Sonham Fire Cracker Good topline held at all times. Shoulders rather upright and lacked upper arm .3. Clayton Smiths Cairpravel Hartnell.
L.D. (10,3) 1. Moores Cloudside Vincent. Liked this dog a lot pushed hard for top honours. Elegant type who moved out well holding his outline at all times. Masculine head with correct eye shape flowing into better front assembly than most. I’m sure his day will come.2.Adams Ellosophia Fly Me to the Moon. Another nice type with good head and well held topline. Less elegant than winner and more upright in front placement. 3. Chrisites Cloudside Valentino at Decalleigh.
O.D. (3,0) 1. Carruthers Aikton Alexander at Stanegate. Good balance and type on this dog. Well made front flowing into long ribbing which supports an excellent topline. Moved out with purpose and drive to win this class and the CC. & BOS. 2. Seaths Sunsong Dare to Dream. Another dog with excellent balance and type. Lovely head and expression he also moves out with purpose and drive which gained him re CC. 3. Vines Cishelvine Quintillion.
V.D (1,1)
S.B.D. (4,2) 1. Farringtons Dollydash Defender of Faith. 2. Burdens Fowlerheight Huey. Dark wild boar with excellent coat. Outgoing dog who moved out holding his topline at all times.
M.P.B.(7,3) Howes Bramalodge Bellini Hard coated compact bitch, nice type just needs more time. 2. Longer cast bitch with reasonable type. Needs more confidence .3. Hunts Bramalodge Boston Tea Party.
P.B. (6,1) Beagries Feldhund Show the Way Fairly mature brindle that moved and showed well. Tidy front with good ribbing and tight feet. B.P. 2. Dickinsons Derdledash Skyfall at Dakotadax preferred the head of winner otherwise similar remarks apply. 3. Buxtons Hazelglade Harriet.
J.B. (6,!) 1.Arthurs Elderkine’s Austin Smart bitch well presented with lovely breed type. Good head flowing into elegant neck, held her topline at all times. Tight feet. Best movement in the class.2 .May & Balls Wyreview Olympia nice type with excellent coat and well presented. Would have preferred more bone.3.Wallers Lallybrook Royal Legacy.
P.G.B. (14,4) 1. Hunts Drakkina Wrenth Chocolate bitch with best overall type. Well handled to get the best of her. 2.Howes Bramalodge Beeswing.Excellent coat and tight feet. 3.Chambers Hototo Village Gossip.
L.B. (14,5) 1. Hutchings Collidach Raynee Day. Quality red bitch. Best of heads flowing into elegant neck and good front assembly. Loved her overall type. Moved with accuracy and drive holding her topline at all times. Res CC. 2. Carruthers Stanegate Starlene Tidy bitch again with lovely head and expression just preferred shoulders and upper arm on winner. Kept shape and outline at all times moving with drive and style. 3. Sunsong Hopes and Dreams.
O.B. (5,2) 1. McCalmont & Hanney Mitchells Ch. Silvae Time After Time at Bronia. Elegant quality bitch who commanded the ring. Beautifully presented. Good head and eye flowing into lovely neck and bodyshape.
Powered around the ring with purpose and drive. Showing a clean pair of heels. CC & BOB. 2. Howes Bramalodge Billie Jean. Hard coated brindle bitch with tight feet. Showed and handled to get the best of her.3, Wyeknot Come Fly with Me over Sonham.
V.B. @,0) 1.Ch Boloria’s Trick or Treat JW. Nice size and type of bitch who pulled out all the stops moving with verve and accuracy. 2. Hutchings I m the One from Collidach.. Another lovely bitch excellent type. Not quite the movement of winner today.
S.B.B ((8,0) 1. Sieminskis Wyldetarn Genesis. Balanced nicely sized bitch with good head and eye . Excellent coat.2. Hudson Lunds Hototo’s Cool Customer. Similar remarks to winner another tidy bitch.
