I really enjoyed this appointment. I found the Wires to be very consistent overall. Temperament across the board was excellent, as was presentation on the whole. No moans about long nails and poor feet and pasterns in this variety. It was also great to witness such good sportsmanship with all class winners being applauded, something other varieties could learn from.
VD (1) 1 Vig’s CR.CH. Qrrens-Dax Enzo Topazo (Imp Hun). Really decent 9-year-old dog of fab make and shape, presented in wonderful coat and condition – being well-bodied and muscled up. Can still move really soundly, driving from the rear.
MPD (4,1) 1 Mountford’s Lallybrook Royale Jester. Really neat black & tan of correct size and well-constructed all through. Presented in immaculate order with everything where it should be at this stage. Was particularly impressed by his thickly padded, strong feet and short, strong nails. Moved really well here, super puppy. BPIB 2 Sanders’ Knottrose Olaf. Brindle dog who scores in head. Different type to 1 but much to commend him and presented in really good order. A bit more leg than 1 perhaps, particularly liked his reach of neck.
PD (1) 1 Binks’ Tannahill Wild Day Raw and rangy brindle dog of pleasing type. Needs to body up and settle in topline. Well up to size.
JD (4) 1 Howlett & Phillips’ Tendrow Malibar. This young brindle dog impressed me. Has a super head, reach of neck and tidy front. Well-ribbed up, strength of loin and well-angulated rear. He is extremely promising. Put down to the minute in fabulous coat and condition, he moved really well to head up this class. 2 Matthews’ Sonham Fire Cracker. Smart brindle dog with a delightful character, who really excelled on the move here. Just needing to firm up and mature. 3 Mountford’s Teckelgarth Love Bug
YD (8,1) 1 Seath’s Sunsong Dare to Dream. A veritable ‘hipster’ among wires with his impressive beard! Full of breed type and so well and soundly constructed all through, he’s hard to fault. Another with super feet. Impressive on the move with his hocks well under him, showing strong and powerful movement – with a correct topline at all times. Pleased to award him the RCC. 2 Norman’s Silvae State Secret. Cracking dark-brindle I really liked, very correct all through and moves so well with super drive. Unlucky to meet 1 on such good form today. Very promising. 3 Pughe & Fraser’s Stanegate Stefan at Bystock
PGD (3,1) 1 Farrington’s Dollydash Defender of Faith. Rangy brindle dog, unplaced in previous class due to immaturity. He needs to body up, settle and grow into his length of body. 2 Vine’s Cishelvine Coriolanus. Neat & shorter-coupled dog. Not really interested in showing himself of here today.
LD (6) 1 Akehurst’s Bolaria All Spice. This super smart brindle dog was a bit of a ‘find’. Just had the whole package for me. Lovely type and correct size. Smart and masculine head, good reach of neck with great shoulders. Neat and tidy in front with sternum well back. Well-ribbed, strong loin and correct hindquarters. He came into his own on the move, really eating up the ground and showing terrific natural carriage. Pleased to award him the CC and later BOB. Sure he’ll have a bright future. 2 Matthews’ Stanegate Billy The Kid As Stonham JW. Well-presented light brindle dog who shows a good outline, not as strong in head or front construction as 1, he nonetheless gave a good account of himself and moved soundly. 3 Mountford’s Incordemeo Beetle About
OD (1) 1 Willis’ Kasalane Ostiriato Sea. Big, red dog with a super coat for this colour. Tidy head but a bit untidy in front and not really keen to move here.
VB (1) 1 Rowe’s Ch Bolaria’s Trick Or Treat JW. Absolutely cracking brindle bitch and something of a favourite of mine, having awarded her top honours in the past. She’s so sound and well-constructed, she’s impossible to ignore. Can clearly pass on her many virtues, as is the dam of the dog CC and BOB winner. Now 8 years old, she’s lost none of her sparkle, put down to the minute in immaculate condition, she powered around the ring. Pleased to award her the RCC and BVIB
PB (2,1) 1 Binks’ Ut It Doarp Bonnie At Tannahill (IMP NLD). Diminutive dark-brindle bitch with pleasing head and expression. Neat & tidy all through and moved soundly, just not much of her. JB (7,1) 1 Howe’s Bramalodge Baby I’m Yours. Smart and typey brindle bitch of correct size. My notes say, ‘compact & powerful’, which she is. So well made, put down in wonderful condition and really excels in movement. She can only improve and must have a bright future. 2 Matthews’ Sonham Twice As Nice JW. Lighter, stylish brindle bitch, has all the essentials and is well constructed – just needing to tighten up and mature. 3 Parrott’s Bystock Blue Tango At Marondera
YB (6) 1 Howe’s Bramalodge Beeswing. Another very tidy brindle from this obviously consistent kennel, very similar to her kennel mate – who won the previous class and very much of the same mould. Strong, purposeful mover with correct topline at all times. Excellent condition. 2 Seath’s Sunsong Hopes and Dreams. Really smart, red-brindle bitch who also took my eye. Very correct and of super type, just lost out to 1 on hind drive, but moved well nonetheless and in fab condition. 3 Pughe & Fraser’s Bystock Blue Orchid
PGB (3) 1 Hunt’s Drakkina Wirenth. Very smart, chocolate bitch with a lovely outline. Pleasing head and expression, neat front and well-angulated rear. Strong and purposeful mover. 2 Cox’s Hopewood Que Sera Avec Bulldaxit. Very sound, brindle bitch who I really liked but carrying too much weight here, which obscured her outline. However, she still managed to move really well. 3 Beagrie’s Ellesophia Light The Way To Feldhund JW. LB (10,3) 1 McCalmont’s Silvae Best Kept Secret. Classy brindle bitch on good form, has the 3 Ls in abundance. A class act with nothing overdone and everything where it should be. Strong and effortless mover. 2 Howe’s Bramaldoge French Kiss. Really super chocolate wild boar bitch of opposite type to 1, but equally as good. Shorter-coupled but moved like a rocket, driving from her powerful rear. 3 Rowe’s Boloria Sugar N’ Spice
OB (4) 1 Howlett & Phillips’ Ch. Tendrow Makes Tye Right Turn JW. Elegant, brindle with a super head and eye. Correct angles fore and aft so she can’t really stand or move wrongly. Put down to the minute in good coat and rock-hard condition and handled to get over shred from her, The penultimate showgirl, and I see sired by the same dog as the dog CC winner. Pleased to award her the BCC. 2 McCalmont’s Ch. Silvae Sky Dancer. Longer-cast brindle bitch of super type, fab head and reach of neck, with well-placed shoulders and well-angulated quarters. Super-sound mover, just not matching 1 for hind drive. 3 Hanney-Mitchell, McCalmont & McCalmont’s Ch. Silvae Time After Time at Bronia
