I was very much looking forward to this appointment, my first in this breed, and I was not disappointed on the day. This variety has great depth and quality, as well as super temperaments and the exhibitors showed such lovely sportsmanship, accepting all my decisions with good grace.

Overall, I feel breeders are getting it right. There were a lot of good movers, excellent construction and in general there were a lot of sound dogs. I only found two suspect bites and a few dogs with a high tail carriage but did feel that return of upper arms is something that needs to be watched. It was very notable that those dogs with a shorter upper arm showed very poor reach on the move, so not something you could overlook.

Having said this, I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was delighted with my winners. In fact, I could have easily awarded several  more CC's out, such was the quality present.

1st:  HORNE, Mr Michael Salixian Moroccan Mint - A very smart looking boy with a good head, strong neck, plenty of forechest, enough ribbing and strong hindquarters. Presented in good condition and well handled. I would just like to see those forelegs under the body a touch more and he was a little untidy in front. However, he won the class on his breed type and balance.
2nd:  CORNER, Mr N & Mrs C Carcorn Chrissy's Legend - A younger boy, still not fully mature and although he has a lovely temperament, he was a little tense on the day, which reflected in his carraige when stood or on the move. He has a masculine head, good bone, is well ribbed and was presented in good coat and condition. A little unsettled on the move but I put this down to him not been as relaxed as he could be.

1st:  PHILLIPS, Mrs Valerie Ch Royal Pepper's Vice Versa (Imp Fin) - 7yo shown in wonderful condition. He has a good head with an alert expression, well laid shoulders, a good return of upper arm, ribs were well back, muscular loin and a strong rear. On the move he was sound in all directions and held his outline well.  BVIB
2nd:  ADAMS, Mrs L D Ch Wyldetarn Shoot From The Hip JW - Another older boy shown in tip top condition, but just not the overall outline and balance of the class winner. His front construction could be better, as could his tail carriage on the move, but he has a pleasing head, strong breast bone, has good ground clearance and was presented and handled well.

1st:  AKEHURST, Mrs Cheryl Tendrow Down To The Wire - So much to like about this male and I had him in my head as a contender for the top awards. He has a super head, strong neck leading to a well laid shoulder. Those front legs were exactly where they need to be, under the body and supporting it. Good length of ribcage and really strong hindquarters. He is sound on the move and never loses his shape. The stand out winner in this class and I'm sure one day he will gain his crown.  BJIB
2nd:  PHILLIPS, Mrs Valerie Tendrow Will To Succeed - Another good example of the breed but just not co-operating with his handler and not the strength of rear of the class winner. In good coat and condition, he has good bone and feet, enough ground clearance and a long ribcage. Hopefully he will learn to enjoy his showing as I am sure he has more to offer.
3rd:  MOUNTFORD, Mrs M Incordemeo Highflyer

1st:  SANDERS, Mrs Laura Knottsrose Olaf - This boy was rather eyecatching in the class and in the challenge he pulled out all the stops. He shows real good breed type, correct head, clean neck, well constructed front and rear with no exaggerations and a topline that he holds when stacked or on the move. For me, I would not want him any bigger, but that aside, he's an honest and sound dog, faultless on the move and thoroughly earned the RCC today in fabulous company. The handler did a super job with him and should be very proud.
2nd:  MATTHEWS, Mrs Alison Sonham Fire Cracker - Another boy showing quality and good breed type, but not the strength of topline showed by the class winner. Masculine head, good forechest, well boned, broad front feet and enough width to the second thigh. A little untidy on the move but still covers the ground well.
3rd:  ADAMS, Mrs L D Serengarth Bear With Me

1st:  ROWE, Miss R Boloria Goodnight Mr Tom JW - When you judge, you hope that you will be lucky enough to find a dog that gives you goosebumps and today, this was the dog for me. The moment I saw him walk in the ring, I had a good feeling and he did not disappoint at all. For me, he epitomises the breed and what I was looking for. He is quality from the tip of his black nose to his tail. He has a masculine head with strong jaws, clean neck, excellent shoulder construction and return of upper arm, ribs well back, a full rump, a slight slope to the croup and well muscled, parallel hindquarters. Absolutely sound as a pound on the move and his side profile movement was outstanding. No hesitation in my mind that he was my CC winner and eventual BOB, and it would appear that this was his crowning one at that. A lovely surprise for me and delighted to hear the approval of other exhibitors. What super sportsmanship!
2nd:  MOORE, Mr W Cloudside Vincent - Another shining example of the breed and presented in fabulous condition. Good head and muscular neck, excellent front construction, well ribbed and a strong loin. Not quite the front extension of the class winner when moving or the strength behind, but nontheless, he is a quality male full of breed type.
3rd:  PHILLIPS, Mrs Valerie Tendrow Rubens Hagrid

1st:  CARRUTHERS, Mrs J Ch Aikton Alexander At Stanegate - So much has been written about this outstanding male. He is so impressive and well proportioned. Well balanced and no exaggerations, prominent keel, well set neck, the best of toplines which he never loses, couldnt fault his front and rear construction and he is so sound on the move. Just pipped today by the more enthusiastic competition in the challenge.
2nd:  HOWLETT, Miss Roisin & PHILLIPS, Mrs V Ch Tendrow Malibar JW - Another super male and such a close decision between 1 and 2. I love the breed type of this male, he is full of quality, balanced front and rear in angulation, good keel, well ribbed, well boned and stood on excellent full, broad front feet. I just felt that 1 held his topline slightly better but I was really splitting hairs.

1st: 2045 CLAYTON-SMITH, Mrs Suzanne Joy Cairparavel Hartnell - This boy has a pleasing head and expression, was presented well in good coat and condition, well boned and good feet, a full rump and good ground clearance. His tail was a little raised on the move but he is a reasonably sound dog and carries himself well.

1st:  SIRRELL, Mrs Zoe & SIRRELL, Miss Eliza Hopewood Dream Come True - A smart looking girl, who wasn't the easiest for her handler to stack, but can I say what a super handler she had. So much patience and so sympathetic. This dog had the best front construction in the class, had a good topline, moved soundly, she is well boned but very feminine. No hesitation to award her Best SBIB.
2nd:  BUXTON, Mrs Kate Wyldetarn Ado - Another excellent handler who did a super job with her dog. This girl is feminine with a pleasing head, clean neck, holds her topline well when stacked or moving, well ribbed and sound on the move in all directions.
3rd:  SIRRELL, Mrs Zoe Drakkina Dragon Song

1st:  ROWE, Miss R Ch Boloria's Trick Or Treat JW VW - 9yo girl and my goodness, what a mover she is for her age. So light on her feet and really moved out, covering the ground with ease. Beautiful, feminine head, clean neck, excellent shoulders and return of upper arm, deep brisket, long ribcage and parallel when viewed from the front or rear. A credit to her owners.
2nd:  CLAYTON-SMITH, Mrs Suzanne Joy Cairparavel Kiss From A Rose JW - Different breed type to the class winner and not the front construction but still has good qualities. She has a lovely, feminine head with a strong jaw, muscular neck, long ribcage, a full rump and my notes say she was sound in all directions.

PB (9 Entries) Abs: 1
1st:  SEATH, Mrs S Sunsong Shine Like A Star (a.i.) - A really beautiful, quality 6 month old pup who must have a bright future ahead of her. The most appealing head and expression, keen, intelligent and alert but cheeky, and this showed on the move. She is feminine, has a strong neck, I couldn't fault her front construction,  ribs well back, a full rump and strong hindquarters showing no weakness. When she moved she proved quite a challenge for her handler, but when she settled you could see how sound and balanced she was, with her reach in front and the correct push from the rear. An exciting prospect and my easy BPIB today.
2nd:  BINKS, Miss Anne E Tannahill Lovely Day - This a smart puppy bitch, not the overall balance of 1 and I would like a touch more length to the ribcage. She has a feminine head, good neck length, prominent keel, holds her topline well and is very sound on the move.
3rd:  JONES, Mrs S B & JONES, Mr K.R. Something Audacious About Clanwillow (naf/raf)

1st:  MOUNTFORD, Mrs M Incordemeo Remember Me - This girl is full up to size but she is still elegant and she won the class on her overall balance and soundness.Pleasing head and expression, good front construction, deep brisket but still just enough ground clearance, well ribbed and good bone. Presented in excellent condition.
2nd:  BINKS, Miss Anne E Tannahill Day By Day - Lighter boned than the class winner and very feminine. Not the front construction of 1, but she has a pleasing head, clean neck, good keel and she holds her topline well when stood or on the move.
3rd:  CORNER, Mr N & Mrs C Carcorn Chrissy's Girl

PGB (7 Entries) Abs: 1
1st:  PATERSON, Mr Brian & PATERSON, Mr Peter Brumberhill Biscuit To Ambiesque - When I started to judge the bitches, I hoped to find a feminine version of my DCC winner, so I was delighted to see this girl enter the ring. She oozes quality and looks like she could do the job she was bred for, all day long. Her character shines through when she is stood or moving, clearly displaying a bit of a stubborn side and showing that her handler has to politely ask her to show herself off, leaving no doubt she was fully in control! Her head is beautiful, her muscular neck leads to her long, sloping shoulders and an ideal return of upper arm, long ribbing, a strong loin, the best of toplines and a strong and balanced rear to match her front angulation. Could not fault her on the move in any direction, although for a moment in the challenge, her cheeky character almost threw it all away, but she then raised the bar and said “look at me”! I'm certain her crown won't be far away.
2nd:  BUXTON, Mrs Kate Hazelglade Harriet - Another really sound girl, a beautiful head and expression, clean neck, good keel, just enough length of ribcage, a good rump and well boned. Would just like a bit more strength behind and a better return to the upper arm.
3rd:  BEAGRIE, Mrs A & BEAGRIE, Mr A Feldhund Show The Way JW

LB (7 Entries) Abs: 0
1st:  MCPHERSON, Mr S A & PATERSON, Mr P C Brumberhill Barbed Wire - Another super example from the kennel of my BCC winner. This girl is so very well balanced, really lovely head shape, muscular neck, long sloping shoulder blades, good return to her upper arm, ideal length to her ribcage, deep brisket but still maintains good ground clearance, really good hindquarters with a full rump and strong, straight hindlegs when viewed from the rear. Never faulters with her topline and absolutely sound in all directions.
2nd:  PUGHE, Ms H M & FRASER, Ms C Bystock Blue Orchid - This was a lovely looking girl, who shows herself off far better on the move than she does when she is stacked. She did push hard for the class but she lacked the confidence and wow factor of the class winner. I loved her head and expression. Her outline when she co-operates is so pleasing to the eye, she never loses her topline and moved out so soundly.
3rd:  SEATH, Mrs S Sunsong Hopes And Dreams

OB (6 Entries) Abs: 3
1st:  HOWLETT, Miss Roisin & PHILLIPS, Mrs V Ch Tendrow Makes The Right Turn JW - This was the one class I struggled with as the first two could change places in a heartbeat. They are top drawer girls who are hard to fault and both moved out soundly. This beautiful girl topped the class as I just slightly preferred her overall body shape so it just came down to personal preference. The best of heads, strong, clean neck, a faultless front, ideal ribbing and a strong rear. Being critical, I wouldn't want anymore of her overall or through her shoulders and she was pipped to the CC because of this, but this is purely nit picking and in an entry of this quality, this is what you have to do. This kennel produces such fabulous movers and this girl is no exception. Fabulous side profile and sound out and back. More than happy to award her the RCC.
2nd:  CARRUTHERS, Mrs J & NORTH-ROW, Ms Emma Ir Ch Stanegate Simona Cw24 Cjw24 - A truly beautiful girl, so full of quality and excellent breed type. I really loved her head and expression, gentle but still alert and intelligent. Faultless overall construction, super keel, good length of ribs, strong hindquarters and just perfect footfall on the move. She really pushed hard for the class and was just unlucky to meet 1 today.
