I feel lucky to be given Dachs breeds to judge at SKC. There were some good
examples in both varieties but there were a couple who could have had stronger
quarters, shorter loins and more daylight under them. Not forgetting what this
breed is designed for, I was looking for a strong front with plenty of muscle
and a largish thorax to house the lungs and heart. Some were lacking in chest
'capacity' and I do like the breed to be strongly built throughout. PD (2). 1.
Christie's Cloudside Xaiden At Decalleigh - 9-months-old and looking very
promising; he has a lovely head and he is quite handsome. Side on his angulation
is very good. However, when viewed from the front, his elbows could be a little
closer to his ribs. Front movement needs to strengthen. Time will be his friend.
BP. 2. Bowers & Marshall's Dollydash Star Of The Season At Lyonglen - What a
shame this 6-month-old puppy is unhappy to be gone over so could not be
assessed; however, he does move well when he settles and he has good front
angulation. I would like to see him again once he has settled down. PGD (1). 1.
Christie's Clouside Xaiden At Decalleigh. OD (5). 1. Christie's & Knoxhill's
Cloudside Valentino At Decalleigh JW ShCEx OSW - Well put together young dog
with lovely angulation fore and aft. Breed typical head with good proportions.
His topline is level and is kept on the move. His front is exceptionally good,
being very strong with enough muscle for the job. Movement in all directions is
good. Perhaps he could do with a tiny bit more substance throughout, but I like
him. BD. BOB. 2. Ord & Ainsley's Cloudside Sebastain Of Marnadee JW. -
5-year-old strongly built throughout, definitely fit for function. He has a
stunning head, all male. There is no way this boy could ever be mistaken for a
bitch! He has plenty of ground clearance and his front action is breed typical.
Super male. RBD. 3. Howlett's & Phillips' Ch Tendrow Malibar JW. SBD (1). 1
Bowers' & Marshall's Dollydash Star Of The Season At Lyonglen. PB (2). A
difficult class to judge as girls were not so keen to be gone over. 1. Corner's
Dollydash Liberty Of The Sea At Carcorn - 8-month-old with so much maturing to
do. Coat texture is good for age; body may be a little long, but loin length is
fine. Her head is of a good shape but needs to broaden a little; dentition is
correct. Time and ring experience will be her friends, and I look forward to
seeing her when she is a little older. 2. Buxton's Cloudisde Xena Of Mereblake -
A little older than my class winner but this is not obvious when going over her.
She has a stronger back than my first place and her body is a little more
compact. Head proportions are pleasing and feminine. Again, time will iron out
any physical developmental issues. Another one I would like to see once she has
matured. OB (2). 2 different types in this class but much to like about both.
Tail set and carriage good for both as is dentition. 1. Dickinson's Derdledash
Skyfall At Dakotadax JW - Lovely head and body proportions; she is incredibly
feminine; ear set and carriage are good. Neck and front angulation are
excellent; topline is level. She moves well in all directions with plenty of
drive. A joy to go over. BB. 2. Downie's Tannahill Thaila - Although she is a
little broad in skull for me, she is still very pretty and feminine. Front
construction is textbook but her rear angulation is not as good as my class
winner and her topline could do with being a little more level. This said, her
movement is good side-on with a long stride at the front. Her rear end could
have a little more drive but an honest bitch with lots to like. RBB. BSB. SBB
(3). 1. Dickinson's Derdledash Skyfall At Dakotadax JW. 2. Buxton's Hazelglade
Harriet - Her head is pleasant and she is very pretty. Her outline is quite
strong; her back is level and rear angulation is very good A little down on
pasterns today. Nice overall. 3. Corner's Dollydash Liberty Of The Sea At
Carcorn.
