I would like to thank the committee for this opportunity and for help and support on the day. I would particularly like to thank my stewards who worked
tirelessly and efficiently, always seeming to be one step ahead of me. I found coats were generally well prepared and of good to excellent quality.
Back and forth movement was generally very good with good reach and drive. Temperaments were very good with lots of wags and kisses for the judge.
Chest construction was generally very good with good length of keel and rib. However, there is a significant number of individuals who exhibited excessive
spring of rib and depth of chest this was often associated with poor layback of shoulder, short upper arms & poorly fitting elbows. Quality of exhibits was
generally better in the males but there are high quality individuals to be found in both sexes. I was surprised to find an issue with mouths in the breed with a
preponderance of incorrect bites and missing incisors. Front feet were also an issue with incorrect shape and many exhibits being down on their front
pasterns. These issues need to be addressed by breeders & impacted adversely on a number of my decisions.

1ST - Tendrow Down to The Wire at Bramdach JW (Mrs C Akehurst) - Wild boar of correct size. Having a well balanced head with correct almond eye and soft expression. Neck and shoulder are clean and his top line was good on the stack but just needs to strengthen on the move.

Dachshund (Wire-Haired) - Limit Dog Entries: 8 Absentees: 2
1ST - Tendrow Rubens Hagrid (Mrs V Phillips) - Stand out in the class, of larger type. Attractive head with keen expression and correctly shaped dark eye. Well laid shoulders and adequate forechest. Good spring of rib and overall body shape. Well angulated hindquarters. Moved with an effortless stride covering the ground with ease and held his shape on the move.
2ND - Atahira Finale (Mrs C Davies) - Attractive head with keen expression and correctly shaped dark eye, held on elegant neck. Good spring of rib, length of keel and overall body shape. Moved with confidence and held shape on the move. Just lost out on overall balance & maturity.
3RD - Knottsrose Olaf (Mrs L Sanders)

Dachshund (Wire-Haired) - Open Dog Entries: 7 Absentees: 1
1ST - Ch Aikton Alexander at Stanegate (Mrs J L Carruthers) - Hard coated dog of correct size and balance. Masculine head with lovely expression. Good bone for elegant type. So lovely to go over on the table everything fitting together smoothly and correctly. Superb front assembly with clean shoulders and adequate length and return of upper arm with elbows neatly tucked into the ribcage, plenty of forechest, good length of rib and keel. Short loin, level topline and correct tailset, well angulated rear quarters with short rear pasterns. Plenty of ground clearance and I liked his height to length ratio. On the move he moved with perfect footfall being absolutely true coming and going. DCC & BOB, GROUP 4.
2ND - Ch Tendrow Will to Succeed (Mrs V Phillips) - Slightly larger in size but of good balance. Masculine head with correct expression. Good bone everything fitting together smoothly and correctly. Good front assembly with clean shoulders and adequate length and return of upper arm, elbows neatly tucked into the ribcage, good length of rib and keel. Short loin, level top-line and correct tail-set. Well angulated rear quarters with short rear pasterns. Plenty of ground clearance & good height to length ratio. Not completely settled today & as such did not make the most of his attributes.

1ST - Cloudside Xena of Mereblake (Mrs K Buxton) - Dark coat of good texture. Lovely personality which shone through. Pretty head with correct mouth. Front was neat and feet were good. Lovely size carrying plenty of body. Well ribbed, short loin. Moved correctly and with enthusiasm keeping topline at all times. Lovely hammy quarters and correct tail set.
2ND - Cloudside Xamira with Boloria (Mrs J Rowe) - Taller more elegant type, with similar attributes 1st, neat throughout. Correct dentition. Moves with enthusiasm but still needs to level out & firm behind. I’m sure these two will be frequently

1ST - Tannahill Lovely Day (Miss A Binks) - Another dark hard coated bitch, of correct size. Having a well balanced head with correct almond eye and soft expression, head carried on elegant neck flowing into clean shoulder and correct full volumed chest.
